Three engineers responsible for the Borgaon Meghe transformer fire have been suspended: Anil Sole

MLC Anil Sole during the Maharashtra Legislature winter session 2016 in accordance with rule 97 called out for an emergency discussion. During the discussion he raised the issue of the 220 KV transformer in Borgaon Meghe village of Wardha district which caught fire on September 19 earlier this month and claimed a life and caused a loss of two crore rupees to the Maharashtra government.

In a media briefing afterwards, Sole said, “During the emergency discussion, Honourable Energy Minister Chandraskher Bawankule informed that he the suspended Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineer and Additional Executive Engineer of the Maharashtra Transmission Company (Transco). He also informed that the person who was responsible for doing the enquiry (to be completed in 15 days) into the matter has also been given notice. The energy minister has assured that new transformers will be installed instead of the old ones immediately and they will have the technology to prevent such incidents in the future.”
