Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday, said that if the Congress is voted to power, it would keep just one slab for GST (Goods and Sales Tax). Rahul was interacting with the students at Maharani’s College, Mysuru.
When a student, Afreen, asked Gandhi as to why there was free health care in Singapore in spite of having one GST slab of seven percent as compared to India’s rate of 28 percent, the Congress president said that PM Modi would be in a better position to answer the question.
Gandhi even said that the tax was originally Congress’ idea and they wanted to have one rate of GST just like in Singapore. But the BJP government imposed five different slabs with the highest being 28 percent. Gandhi also said that the congress is absolutely against the 28 percent slab.
