IIT Kharagpur’s PAN-India Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive in Nagpur on October 7

Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive 2017, by Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur will be held on October 7, 2017, at Persistent Systems Limited, Nagpur.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive 2017, by Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur will be held on October 7, 2017, at Persistent Systems Limited, Nagpur, in association with Nation Next as the media partner. EAD, formulated in 2009, is E-cell, IIT Kharagpur’s major flagship event and is being organised in 22 cities in 22 days this year.

EAD 2017 at Nagpur will be a five-hour long affair and will have guest lecturers and workshops from eminent entrepreneurs to add to students’ knowledge and provide an insight into the struggles after initiating a ‘start-up’. The speakers at this year’s edition of EAD will be Venky Iyer (Founder, Goli Vadapav), Manish Rathi (Founder, RailYatri), Vikas Choudhary  (Sales Head, OYO Rooms), Advit Sahdev (Marketing Head, Infibeam), Nikhil Chandwani (Founder, Walnut School of Ideas) and Richa Singh (Founder, BigStylist). These speakers are expected to guide the students for turning their out-of-the-box ideas into reality. This year, Priyadarshini MBA College has also collaborated with EAD to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship among Nagpur students.

Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur is a non-profit student organization established with the aim of fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship among college students in India. It is one of the most successful entrepreneurial organizations in the country with over 50 start-ups incubated within 10 years of inception. Last year’s EAD by E-cell, IIT Kharagpur, saw a participation of around 30,000 students in 23 cities with speakers like Kiran Mazumdar Shaw (Founder of Biocon), Phanindra Sama, (CEO of Redbus.in), Arjun Malhotra, (Co-founder of HCL Technologies) and many such distinguished personalities sharing their experiences and expertise with the students.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive also coincides with the launch of regular round registrations for Empresario 2018, an annual business model competition by IIT Kharagpur in association with International Business Model Competition (IBMC). At Empresario, business ideas in all fields ranging from product and service to social, get equal opportunity to win the prize and incubation opportunities to the tune of Rs 2.5 crore. Also, the best entries will get an opportunity to participate directly in the quarter-final rounds of IBMC 2017, which will be conducted abroad.

Last year, about 25% of the entries in Empresario were from the participants of EAD, which underlines the impact of this unique initiative towards motivating young minds towards entrepreneurial thought and action. At EAD 2016, 158 colleges participated and around 23 colleges associated with E-cell, IIT Kharagpur to conduct the EAD in their respective campuses.
