Subhash Ghai reveals the reality of 100 crore films

The veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai in a ‘Dialogue @ Nation Next,’ speaks about how important it is for a filmmaker to gauge his film’s audience – whether it’s for the critics or the ‘100 crore club.’ Ghai explains that when media talks about 100 crore films, little they know that a producer receives only 20 percent of the ‘100 crore’ amount, as the theatre owners and distributors take away 50% and 30% of the ‘100 crore,’ respectively. And the producer at times incur losses, even after making a 100-crore-film.
