After having a fantastic start yesterday, excitement continued at Hislop College’s Athena Fest 2016-17 on the second day as well. The three-day intercollegiate fest which has been organised in association with Nation Next as the media partner, on the second day saw participation from more than 40 participants in group and solo competitions. Brain storming, energetic and innovative dance performances and showcase of dramatic skills was all what the second day of the fest was about!

The first competition of the second day was Quizzistan which was all about global general knowledge and about how well versed the participants are in terms of entertainment, history, science, etc. Along with participants from many Nagpur colleges, students from CBSE schools like Bhavan’s, Somalwar School, Delhi Public School, St. John’s High School and Montfort Senior Secondary School also participated in the different competitions. And without a doubt, students from all schools and colleges gave their best and a tough competition to the competitors.
In the first round of Quizzistan, all participants were provided with a worksheet of 20 questions to be solved in 20 minutes. The ones who scored the highest qualified for the final round. A total of six teams headed to the final round. The teams which went to the finals were: TEAM A – Varun Agrawal, Chinmay Pathak and Prathmesh Dhawale (BVM, Civil Lines), TEAM B – Anshul Nasery, Tejas S and Tanmay Chiridaliya, (BVM, Civil Lines), TEAM C – Milind Patil, Kaushik B and Shreyas Muthye (Institute of Forensic Science), TEAM D – Rahul Bhagat, Aditiya Prava and Mukund Srinivasan (Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology), TEAM E – Abhishek Ambulkar and Harsh Vaibhav (Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management) and TEAM F – Pratik Nayak, Aman Mishra and Vishwaroop Khanorkar (Indira Gandhi National Open University). The competition between these six teams was tough and challenging. Co-convener of the fest Supantha Bhattacharyya was the host of this competition. which consisted of five rounds. In the end, TEAM B from BVM, Civil Lines won the competition and TEAM F and TEAM C became the first and the second runner-up respectively.
Beat pe Booty!
Who doesn’t like to dance? The second competition at the fest was all about dancing! With energy packed performances, participants left no stone unturned to wow the audience and the judges. The competition was judged by Dr Shivani Dongarwar, Dr Jayshree Rudra and Shrimati Mathgolar who judged participants on the basis of their dancing skills, stage presence and entertainment. Five teams made it to the final round of the competition with Abhishek Goenka and his group from Dr Ambedkar College emerging as the winners in the end. The second position and third positions were secured by Ocean Lakde and group and Akshay Choudhary and his group with both groups being from Hislop college.
Got acting skills…eh?
A skit comeptition gave a perfect finish to the second day of the fest. This competition was judged by Supantha Bhattacharyya, Rahuldev Mukherjee and Nihaas Lokhande. In this competition, four groups competed with each other for the winners tag. After amazing performances by all the four groups Sanjog Kherkar, Shubham Ughade and Shubham Deshmukh from Rajiv Gandhi College Of Engineering and Research brought laurels to their college. The second position was bagged by Rishabh Shukla, Ashwin Shukla, Vivek Thawar, Nikita Sen, Nishad Janefalkar and Viddesh Gharpure who represented Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management.
