One of the oldest and reputed colleges of Nagpur – LAD (Lady Amritbai Daga College for Women of Arts, Commerce and Science) – for the first time opened its festive doors for girls from across Nagpur college campuses for its intercollegiate cultural fest – AURA. With Nation Next as its media partner, the fest aims at providing a holistic platform for the students to express themselves through performing arts, artistic competitions and even battles of wits.
AURA – an out of the box three-day intercollegiate cultural fest, where the entry is restricted to the girls students only, begins from tomorrow i.e. January 17 to 20 January on both the campuses – Shankar Nagar and Seminary Hills – of LAD College. While half of the events are being organised on Shankar Nagar campus, rest of them will take place on Seminary Hills campus. Keeping the spirit of ‘the girl power’ in mind, LAD College has introduced events like Turn Coat (where participants would be given few minutes to speak ‘for’ and ‘against’ a topic), Lit Up Dress Competition (where girls are supposed to dress up as characters from their favourite books, movies, TV series or cartoons), etc.
One of the events that needs a special mention is ‘Swachcha Bharat Abhiyaan,’ which aims at bringing out the creativity of students by combining craft and waste management. Dr Harsha Jharia, coordinator of post graduate Fashion Design, is the incharge of one of the most popular contest ‘Ms LAD Personality Contest.’ While Principal of the college and Coordinator of the cultural fest Dr Deepali Kotwal, Convener Dr Pooja Pathak and Co-Conveners Dr Ruta Dharmadhikari and Dr Nanda Rathi are spearheading the fest, various students from both the campuses are actively involved in the managing the fest.
