Laxmi Agrawal was just 14 years old in 2005 when a 32-year-old man along with his friends threw acid on Laxmi’s face. The reason was – Laxmi had rejected the advances of the man and this was his way of taking revenge! The attack left Laxmi’s face and other body parts disfigured but it didn’t dampen her spirits. It took time but Laxmi not only took charge of her life but also went on a mission to help ‘survivors’ like her. In 2014, she received the International Women of Courage Award by the former US First Lady Michelle Obama. She was also chosen as the NDTV Indian of the year.
Laxmi’s life story is not only inspiring but is also a testimony to the fact that nothing is impossible; you’ll achieve what you want if you have the will, no matter how hard the situations and how bad the time. In a recently held National Student Parliament at Raisoni College in Nagpur Laxmi narrated her inspiring life story to a jam packed auditorium.
