Man loses money to betting during IPL; dies 13 days after setting himself on fire

→ A 30-year-old man who set himself on fire (near Poonam Mall, Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur) on May 1, 2017 after he lost money to betting during IPL died on May 14, 2017 at New Era Hospital, Quetta Colony, Nagpur.

→ The deceased, Nilesh Subhash Lahane, who was a resident of Hiwari Nagar was a vegetable vendor by profession. After he set himself on fire in full public gaze, he was admitted to New Era Hospital by people around, where he was undergoing treatment.

→ According to Lakadganj police, Nilesh was addicted to betting and was in depression ever since he lost a hefty sum during the ongoing IPL. This made him take the drastic step.

→ PSI Sachin Jadhav from Lakadganj Police Station has registered a case of accidental death and further investigations are in process.
