The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has finally given a green signal to Sunny Deol’s movie Mohalla Assi by giving it a ‘A’ certificate. It is a relief for the makers of the movie, who were fighting a legal battle for the movie’s release since the last two years. The film is expected to release in March 2018.

Back in June 2015, a stay was imposed on the movie by Delhi Court saying that the film has scenes, which hurt religious sentiments. Post this, in 2016, when the film was submitted to CBFC for certification, the board refused to certify it stating that the film was highly derogatory and contained explicit content.

Mohalla Assi, which has been directed Dr Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and has Sunny Deol, Sakshi Tanwar and Ravi Kishan in crucial roles, is based on the book ‘Kashi Ka Assi’ by Kashinath Singh.
