Nagpur cop to represent India at an international tournament in China in June 2017

Nagpur cop Tejram Bawankule is all set to represent India in 4 x 100 metres relay event at an international tournament to be held in China in 2017.

→ Tejram Bawankule, a 58-year-old PSI from Crime Branch, Nagpur is all set to represent India in 4 x 100 metres relay event at an international tournament, which is going to be held in China in June 2017.

 

→ Bawankule was selected to compete at the tournament in China after he won a bronze medal in Master’s Athletics Tournament held in Hyderabad in February 2017.

 

→ The cop apart from carrying out his regular police duty has been winning 2-3 medals every year for the last six years. At 58, he has won a total of 37 medals prior to his stint and during his stint in the police department.

 

→ Bawankule has been involved in sporting activities like Kabaddi, Kho Kho, relay events, etc., since fourth grade and has represented the state and the country on the international level quite a few times.

 

→ Over the years, Bawankule has been a trainer in the department for 100 m, 400 m,  1500 m,  5000 m, 10000 m and 20000 m run, long jump and judo karate in which he has secured a green belt.

 

→ Bawankule in a statement released by the Nagpur Police appealed everybody to work towards fitness and work out for at least two hours every day. He also advised that one should wake up early, should walk or run for at least five kms and do Yoga every day to stay away from diseases.
