Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) would be jointly organising Nagpur Mahotsav 2016 from Dec 16 to 19, at Yeshwant Stadium. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule would be inaugurating the festival.
BJP Leader Dayashankar Tiwari, Standing Committee Chief Bandu Raut, Nagpur’s Mayor Pravin Datke, NMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Nagpur Mahotsav conveyor Sandip Joshi and NMC Deputy Commissioner Ravindra Deotale informed reporters about the upcoming Nagpur Mahotsav, which would kick start with a slew of various cultural activities at a press conference on Saturday at Hotel Centre Point. Nagpur’s Mayor Pravin Datke performed Bhoomipujan today, (Dec 11), at Yeshwant Stadium before the upcoming festival commences.
Post inaugural function, renowned theatre artist Ashok Hande would be performing a play titled ‘Aazadi 70’ on December 16. ‘Chala Hawa Yeu Dya,’ a Marathi play (comedy), will be staged on December 17. Singer and music composer Shankar Mahadevan and actor-director Farhan Akhtar would enthral the audience with their live performances on December 18 and 19 respectively. All the above cultural activities and entertainment programmes would commence from 6:30 pm at Yeshwant Stadium.
While speaking to Nation Next, Pravin Datke said, “The NMC has organised a grand festival – Nagpur Mahotsav – for the citizens of Nagpur who love cultural activities and are looking forward for great entertainment. Also, we have joined hands with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) to promote Maharashtra tourism. There is no entry fee for anybody as the event is primarily for people who want to enjoy and have a good time. No VIP pass would be issued for anybody.”
