Nagpur Traffic Police constable caught on camera accepting a bribe of Rs 200

A Nagpur Traffic Police constable was caught on camera accepting a bribe from two youngsters at Dosar Bhawan Square, Central Avenue, Nagpur.

→ A Nagpur Traffic Police constable, Bhujangrao Thate, on January 26, was caught on camera accepting a bribe from two youngsters at Dosar Bhawan Square, Central Avenue, Nagpur.

→ The youngsters apparently jumped the red signal and were rounded up by Thate in a corner. One of the youngsters shot the video, in which Thate is seen accepting the bribe.

→ In the video, Thate can be seen and heard asking for Rs 600 to let the youngsters go. When he’s told that they don’t have Rs 600, Thate tells the youngsters that he will make a challan for Rs 1200. Thereafter, when the youngsters tell him that they just have Rs 200, Thate settles for Rs 200 and let the youngsters go.

→ It is to be noted that the official fine for jumping a red light as per Nagpur Police is Rs 200 and the constable still demanded Rs 600. Moreover, the official fine has to be paid through a challan.

→ As per reports, on the directions of Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham, DCP (Traffic) Ravindrasinh Pardesi has suspended Thate.
