On Tuesday, December 13, 2015, during the Maharashtra Legislature winer wession, Brahmapuri MLA Vijay Wadettiwar lashed out at CM Devendra Fadnavis for supporting cabinet Minister Mahadev Jankar. The same day former Maharashtra CM Prithvitraj Chavan also spoke about the issue and said that Jankar should be removed as he misused his power in the Gadchiroli local body elections.

Speaking to Nation Next (watch video below), the former Chief Minister said, “Mahadev Jankar misused his power in the Gadchiroli local body elections by pressurising Wadsa’s SDO for rejecting congress candidate Jesabhai Motwani’s nomination papers for the election of municipal council president. All this has been recorded in a video clip. The election commission after taking this into note has already lodged an FIR against Jankar. My question is – Should a person like this allowed a place in the cabinet? We requested the CM to keep Jankar away from power till the case is settled. What credibility will the government have if such a politician stays in power?”

On asking him if the CM answered his request, Chavan added, “The CM didn’t give us any reply. He wants to save Jankar as BJP has an alliance supported government in Maharashtra and every member is necessary for them to run the government. Thereafter, we requested the speaker of the house that Jankar should be kept away from power till the time he gets a clean chit from the judiciary. The Chief Minister is not being strict to his sub-ordinates and that portrays a very poor picture of him.”
