Bollywood’s eternal dreamgirl Hema Malini congratulated noted author and television producer Ram Kamal bagged the prestigious Society Achievers Award for Hema Malini’s biography Beyond The Dreamgirl in Mumbai. She lauded Mukherjee’s achievement by saying, “He worked sincerely on this book for almost two years. I guess when someone works with honesty, God blesses him.”

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and Suchitra Krishnamurthy conferred the honour to Mukherjee for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema at a star studded event at Taj Santacruz. “I’m extremely happy to present this prestigious award to Ram Kamal who has been a prolific writer since last two decades of film journalism,” said Sonu Sood. 

Ram Kamal received the award in presence of Bollywood bigwigs like Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty, Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Jeetendra, Ramesh Sippy, Tusshar Kapoor, Anu Malik, Shaan, Aman Ali Bangash, Ayan Ali Bangash, Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla, Divya Kumar and Raveena Tandon.

Ram Kamal had launched his biography Beyond The Dreamgirl last year October amidst huge fanfare. Published by Harper Collins India, the book was launched by Deepika Padukone in Mumbai, Rituparna Sengupta in Kolkata and Celina Jaitley in Dubai. The book has been a part of leading literature festivals in India and abroad, including Times Lit Fest, The Hindu Lit For Life fest and Sharjah Book Fest. 

Ram Kamal completed 20 years in the field of journalism this year and he feels this was the most precious moment of his life. “I started my career in Mumbai with Nari Hira’s Stardust. I am honoured and privileged that after almost two decades, I received this award from my mentor Nira Hira, my colleague Suchitra Iyer (editor of Society) and Ashok Dhamankar,” said Ram Kamal. 

“I dedicate my award to my parents, wife and Hemaji. Without their support and good wishes, this wouldn’t have been possible,” added Ram Kamal.

Ram Kamal worked with prestigious publications like The Asian Age, The Times of India, Midday, ABP, etc. He also worked as the Vice President with Pritish Nandy Communications. He is India’s first Power Brand Film Journalist and youngest biographer. He also produced a finite series Bin Kuch Kahe for Zee TV with Bollywood director Rajshree Ojha.
