Sakkardara Police seizes Rs 53.44 lakhs in demonetised currency; arrests three men

Sakkardara Police seized old currency notes worth Rs 53.44 lakhs from a car near Chhota Tajbagh, Nagpur, at around 9:45 pm on Wednesday.

→ Sakkardara Police seized demonetised currency notes (Rs 500 and Rs 1000) worth Rs 53.44 lakhs from a car near Chhota Tajbagh, Nagpur, at around 9:45 pm on Wednesday. The police also arrested three people who were carrying the cash.

→ As per the police, they received a tip-off about the cash being carried in a white Hyundai Getz car (MH-32-CN-9027) near Chhota Tajbagh. Acting on the tip-off, the cops laid a trap to get hold of the cash and the people carrying it.

→ As the driver of the car saw the cops, the men tried to dodge the policemen by starting the car and trying to flee. However, they were stopped by the police team soon.

→ During the vehicle search, the police found the cash in a big bag. The police confiscated the cash and then arrested Shrawan Kumar Subramaniyam Vaya (47), Manoj Parve (41) and Vitthal Chalwant (39) who were carrying the cash. All the three accused are traders and residents of Nagpur.

→ Sakkardara Police after filing a seizure punchnama handed over the cash and the case to Income Tax Department for further investigations.

→ The entire seizure operation was carried out by PI Anand Nerlekar, PSI Manish Wakode, PSI Manoj Orke, PSI Sajid Moval, PSI Sharad Shimpne, ASI Ravi Sanap and constables Atul Charde, Sandeep Borse and Sunil Atkari, under the supervision of DCP Zone 4 Ravindra Pardeshi and ACP RR Kapgate.
