Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor was ‘pleased’ to file a defamation case against Republican TV founder Arnab Goswami. Tharoor, today evening through his twitter account confirmed, “Pleased to confirm this story. We filed today. Had enough of his campaign of calumny.”

Apparently, Goswami on Republic TV had been carrying out an investigation into the death of Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor. The report, which was aired on May 8, alleged that Tharoor was involved in Pushkar’s murder through conspiracy theories and audiotapes.

According to the tapes, Pushkar’s body on the night of her death (on January 17, 2014) had been shifted to another room at the Leela Palace Hotel, New Delhi.

Tharoor criticised Goswami’s reports on Twitter by saying, “A so-called journalist comes with an agenda to disrupt the rest of the media in order to create attention for his channel. Not interested in truth.”
