Actor Sooraj Pancholi was charged with abetment (section 306 of IPC) in the Jiah Khan suicide case by a sessions court in Mumbai on Tuesday. The trial of the case, in which Sooraj pleaded not guilty, will start from February 14.

Actress Jiah Khan, who was Sooraj’s girlfriend, committed suicide on June 3, 2013 by hanging herself in her house in Juhu, Mumbai. Sooraj was arrested thereafter but was released on bail. The case was then transferred to CBI, which in December 2015 filed a charge sheet accusing Sooraj of abetment to Jiah’s suicide.

While Jiah made her film debut with a bang with the film Nishabd starring Amitabh Bachchan in 2007, Sooraj, who’s actor Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab’s son, made his film debut in 2015 with the film Hero.
