Tripura to go to polls on Feb 18, Nagaland and Meghalaya to vote on Feb 27

The Election Commission of India on Thursday announced that Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls in February 2018.

The Election Commission on Thursday announced that Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls in February 2018. While the election in Tripura will be on February 18, in Nagaland and Meghalaya the election will be on February 27. The counting of votes of all three states will be done on March 3, 2018.

Currently, Communist Party of India (Marxist) is in power in Tripura. While Nagaland is ruled by Nagaland People’s front, Meghalaya is ruled by the Indian National Congress. The voting will be done in a single day in all these three states, which have 60-member assembly each. The code of conduct has come into effect from Thursday.
