Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) on Friday felicitated Team Vidarbha at VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, Nagpur, for bringing laurels to the cricket association and the region by winning the Ranji Trophy. Vidarbha created history on January 1 when it won the Ranji Trophy for the first time, under the leadership of captain Faiz Fazal, coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Subroto Banerjee, by beating Team Delhi at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
Playing perfect hosts at the function were International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Shashank Manohar, VCA President Anand Jaiswal, Vice-president Prashant Vaidya, Secretary BS Bhatti and other VCA officials. The entire Team Vidarbha consisting of players, mentors and support staff were feliciatated at the function amidst a lot of congratulatory cheer from the people present.
As Manohar took to the stage, he was all praises for the entire team for its performance and winning the Ranji Trophy. He mentioned that he doesn’t watch international matches but he followed every bit of the Ranji final between Vidarbha and Delhi. Manohar also gave the players a piece of advice. Manohar said that some of the players may now get IPL contracts but the focus should not just be on IPL, it should also be on a place in the Indian team. He also wished the players good luck for the Irani Trophy.
