Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar demanded capital punishment for drug peddlers. Pawar on Friday said youngsters in the state were spoiling their lives due to drug addiction and almost 1000 crore drugs had been seized across the state.
Pawar during the on-going monsoon session in Mumbai said that apart from Mumbai, Thane and Nagpur, remaining cities in Maharashtra too had witnessed an increase in drug consumption. He said if required, a provision should be made to punish people selling drugs.
NCP MLAs Jitendra Awhad and Jayant Patil even claimed that drugs were being supplied through post and courier.
