Nagpur: 19 customers, 4 hotel owners fined Rs 69,000 for consuming, serving alcohol illegally

    Customers fined for drinking at public places where liquor was sold without license

    In a surprise inspection by excise department in Nagpur, 19 customers were fined Rs 3000 challan each for consuming alcohol publicly at eateries – Hotel Payal at Hingna T point and Veera Da Dhaba on Amravati Road – which served alcohol without license to them. Apart from the customers, the owners and managers of both the eateries were also slapped with Rs 3000 fine each on Thursday night.

    Excise Inspector Balasaheb Patil, Assistant Inspector Shailesh Ajmire from Sadar, along with their staff, also confiscated liquor worth Rs 6000. The drive was carried out under the guidance of Excise Superintendent Pramod Sonawne.
