23 cops in Maharashtra undergoing treatment for COVID-19; 97 attacked while enforcing lockdown

An official on Thursday informed that at least 23 police personnel from Maharashtra have tested for COVID-19 so far. The official also said that at least 97 police personnel have been attacked by anti-social elements so far while enforcing lockdown and that 162 people have been arrested in these cases.

Out of the 23 police personnel, while fifteen are from Mumbai, the remaining eight are from different parts of the state. All COVID-19 infected police personnel are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Maharashtra and are said to be in stable condition. These cops involve 16 constables and seven police officers.

Ever since the lockdown has been imposed, 46,671 cases have been registered under section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to order of public servant) in Maharashtra and 9,155 persons have been arrested. Additionally, 31,296 vehicles have been seized.
