The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra, on May 23, arrested a 25-year-old man from Mumbai’s Chunabhatti area for threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The man, identified as Kamran Khan, allegedly sent message to the social media help desk of UP government saying that he will kill the CM in a bomb explosion.
Vikram Deshmane, Superintendent of Police, ATS Maharashtra, said that after the threat, a case was registered at Gomati Police station against the unidentified man under IPC section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Deshmane said, “We traced the accused using technical and human intelligence. Khan has a history of drug abuse but has no criminal record. It seems that he made the threat as a prank. Even his number is saved on Truecaller as ‘Yogi Ji’.”
As per reports, Khan was arrested by the Kala Chowki unit of ATS and has been handed over to the UP Special Task Force.
