25-year-old woman raped on moving bus in presence of passengers, her children

In a horrific incident, a 25-year-old woman, who was travelling with her two kids from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district to Noida, was allegedly raped on a moving bus by one of the two drivers during the early hours of June 17.

The incident took place when the bus had crossed Lucknow and was heading towards Mathura. The woman was travelling along with her two children and 10 other passengers. According to the police, she was travelling to visit her husband.

The victim was seated on the rear end of the AC sleeper bus when the driver forced himself on her. As per reports, two more people are said to be involved in the crime as well. The driver, who has been arrested, reportedly threatened her with dire consequences in case the woman informs the police about the incident.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Women Safety) Vrinda Shukla told a daily: “We received information that a woman was raped in a moving bus that had been travelling overnight to Noida. As per the victim’s complaint, the driver raped her while another driver was at the wheel. The conductor, too, was aware of the crime, she said. There were 12-13 passengers on the bus and an alarm was raised when the bus reached Noida. One accused has been arrested and a search is on for the two others.”
