Three unidentified persons stabbed district-level cricketer Rakesh Pawar (35) to death at a petrol pump. The brutal murder took place on Friday early morning at Chandanwadi road in Mumbai.

Pawar, who was a resident of Bhandup, is survived by wife and two children. As per reports, a sudden increase in the property rates in areas of Bhandup and Mulund is stated to be one of the major reasons behind Pawar’s murder.

According to police, the three persons approached Pawar, who was accompanied by an unknown woman on his bike. The three men were waiting to attack Pawar with sharp weapons.

Soon after, employees of the petrol pump rushed Pawar to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said that the woman who accompanied Pawar is being questioned. Police said that they suspected a murder and are now checking the CCTV footage of the petrol pump.
