Aaditya Thackeray, grandson of the late Balasaheb Thackeray and son of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, has become the first in his family to not only contest an election but also win it. Though the final numbers are yet to come in, it is clear that Aaditya is going to be the winner from the Worli seat in Mumbai for Maharashtra Elections 2019.

As per the official website of Election Commission of India, till 2:05 pm, Aaditya had garnered 70,191 votes, while his closest competitor Adv Suresh Mane from NCP had garnered 15,296 votes.

It is a well-known fact that neither Balasaheb nor Uddhav ever contested an election inspite of being in politics for a long time. Even though Balasaheb, who founded Shiv Sena in 1966, was an influential figure in politics, he never contested any election in his entire life.
