Megastar Aamir Khan will be in Ballarpur in Chandrapur district on August 4 to launch Mission Shakti, which aims to prepare local youths for 2024 Olympics. As part of Mission Shakti, selected students from the tribal-dominated district will be trained in six international games, where the focus will be to make them capable to win medals in the Olympics.
Mission Shakti has been conceptualised after the grand success of Mission Shourya, which was a joint initiative of the State Tribal Department and Chandrapur Collectorate to scale Mount Everest – the tallest peak in the world. As part of Mission Shourya, seven students successfully scaled Mount Everest in two separate conquests.
Like Mission Shourya, Mission Shakti is also the brainchild of Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for Finance, Planning and Forest Departments Sudhir Mungantiwar.
Aamir, who’s known for working on projects aimed at betterment of the society, agreed to launch the mission after he was reportedly briefed by Mungantiwar about the mission, the local talents, wildlife and natural wealth available in Chandrapur district.
For the launch of Mission Shakti on August 4, a special sports complex has been developed at Ballarpur. Aamir will inaugurate the complex and formally launch the mission.
