Legendary Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor passed away today (December 4, 2017) after a prolonged kidney ailment. Kapoor, who was 79, was on a wheelchair for years. Kapoor expired at 5:20 pm at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Randhir Kapoor told PTI, “Yes he has passed away. He had kidney problem since years. He was on dialysis for several years.”
Kapoor, who had starred in hits like ‘Deewar (1975), Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), etc, was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2011 and Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.
He was married to late English actress Jennifer Kendal in 1958. Kapoor, who is survived by daughter Sanjana and sons Kunal and Karan, established Prithvi Theatre in 1978. The funeral would be held on Tuesday (December 5).
