Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research (DAIMSR) on its campus organised the 10th annual international conference – Acumen 2016. The theme of the conference was, ‘Recent advancements in business management practices.’ Acumen 2016 was organised with an intention to give a platform to research scholars and to promote the importance of research to budding managers. Mridul Chakravorty (HR Head, TCS, Nagpur) and Azam Mashkoor (Regional Precision Marketing Manager, Nagpur) were the speakers and judges at Acumen 2016.
While Mridul Chakravorty in his speech spoke about new age competencies in service sector and importance of comprehensive thinking and mindfulness, Azam Mashkoor spoke about marketing at length. He told the audience, ‘Marketing is not only about selling a product but also about spreading awareness about the product through communication. It is very important to connect with the target audience.’
Participants from all over India submitted research papers and case studies on topics such as supply chain management, importance of public relations, advertising, agribusiness management and export performance in India. The winners of Acumen 2016 were BN Ganvir (winner), NV Shende (1st runner-up) and AB Bhosale (2nd runner-up) who received a cash prize worth Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively along with the certificates.
