Ahead of the 2019 General Elections, a series of biopics have been made and announced – be it upcoming biopic ‘Narendra Modi,’ or biopic ‘Thackeray’ on late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray or a biopic based on former PM Manmohan Singh – The Accidental Prime Minister. Congress President Rahul Gandhi is not far from the biopic race anymore.
Directed by journalist-turned-director Rupesh Paul, the biopic on Rahul Gandhi is titled ‘My Name is RaGa,’ which is expected to release in April 2019. The teaser starts with a young Rahul lying next to late PM Indira Gandhi immediately post her assassination in 1984.
Speaking about the film, Rupesh said he didn’t take any permission from the Gandhi family as all the information was in the public domain. Stating that because his film is based on facts, there was no need to get any clearance from anybody.
Interestingly, Raju Kher, who’s is essaying the role of Manmohan Singh, is the brother of Anupam Kher, who recently played the titular role of Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister.
