Tension arose after a sweeper of Carriage and Wagon (C&W) at Nagpur Railway Station discovered 98 live cartridges of 9 mm pistol on Monday. The discovery came in as a cause of worry for the state government especially against the backdrop of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Three boxes that contained the cartridges were found in a room near platform number 7 at the railway station.

Sweeper Liladhar Raut (37), who’s a resident of Mankapur, came across the boxes while cleaning the room at the railway station. Raut immediately alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) about the same.

However, when Nation Next spoke to Superintendent of Police (SP) at Nagpur Railways Amogh Gaonkar, he said that the 98 live cartridges belonged to 164 battalion of the Indo Tibet Border Police (ITBP). Gaonkar said that Nagpur Railways would soon issue an official press release on the same matter.
