Ambazari Police books 24-year-old boy for abetting suicide of teenage girl

A 24-year-old boy was booked by Nagpur’s Ambazari Police on Friday (February 15) for abetting suicide of an 18-year-old girl. The girl, who was a Standard XI student, hanged herself from the ceiling fan with a dupatta at her residence in Jai Nagar on February 10.

As per the police, the boy Pratik Chokhandre, had befriended the girl Tanvi Vivek Deshmukh and would pressurise her regularly to get married to him. Tanvi’s father Vivek Narendra Deshmukh (48) had tried to convince Pratik to not harass her but his efforts went in vain and Pratik continued with the harassment.

Fed up with the mental harassment, Tanvi took the extreme step on February 10. On the basis of a complaint filed by Vivek Deshmukh, Ambazari police have registered a case and booked Pratik under section 306 of the IPC.
