Annoyed by scolding for using mobile phone, 16-year-old boy kills father

In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old boy killed his father, who would often scold the teenager for overusing his mobile phone. The incident took place on May 18 in Hivra Sangam village of Mahagaon tehsil.

According to the police, the boy used to work as a truck cleaner but had recently lost his job due to the nationwide lockdown. While staying at home, the teenager would often be glued to his cell phone.

On Monday, when the boy’s father scolded him for overusing his phone, an argument ensued between the two. During the argument, the father broke the mobile phone, which in turn enraged the teenager, who killed his father by hitting him with a rod.

Local police officer Pravin Kadam registered a complaint against the accused with Mahagaon police, who have taken the juvenile into custody.
