62.4 kgs of Ganja seized by anti-narcotics cell from a car in Nagpur

The Anti-narcotics cell of Nagpur Crime Branch, on Thursday, intercepted a car near Chinchbhawan Bridge and seized 62.4 Kgs of Ganja from the car.

The Anti-narcotics cell of the Nagpur Crime Branch, on Thursday, intercepted a car at Shivangaon Gate near Chinchbhawan Bridge and seized 62.4 Kgs of Ganja worth Rs 6, 24,000 from the car.

The cops acted on a tip-off received by Constable Tulsidas Shukla about a car from Andhra Pradesh carrying the contraband and heading towards the city. Based on the information, all the cars coming from Butibori to Nagpur were being checked near Chinchbhawan Bridge. At around 8.20 pm, the police intercepted a Ford car (AP-31/AQ/0455), in which three men were travelling. The men, on being questioned by the police, couldn’t come up with satisfactory answers. The police then conducted a through checking of the car. It is during the checking that the police found 62.4 kgs of Ganja in the dickey of the car.

The cope have arrested the three men, who have been identified as Ashokkumar Yakaiyaa Aalakunta (28, a resident of Ganeshvaram, Khammam, Telangana), Upendra Ramlu Aalakunta (35, a resident of Mudigonda, Khammam, Telangana) and Rajanna Attamalu Wangla (48, a resident of Nizampalli, Telangana). The men, on being interrogated, revealed that they were carrying the contraband to Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. Sonegaon Police is investigating the case further and has booked the three men under section 8 (K) and section 20 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
