After NCP leader Ajit Pawar gave an open invitation to former revenue minister of BJP Eknath Khadse, Maharashtra Congress chief and former chief minister Ashok Chavan too recently extended an invitation to the BJP leader to join Congress. As per Hindustan Times, Chavan, praising Khadse by calling him an ‘upright and a ‘self-respecting’ leader, said, “Don’t wait for the BJP to throw you out. You’re welcome to join us anytime.”
Chavan said the same during a birthday function of Raju Patil, who’s a former district president of the Congress in Jalgaon. Khadse, who was also present during the celebrations, was forced to resign the BJP after he was accused of misusing his office to facilitate a land deal, which was made by his family.
An irked Khadse made his unhappiness public when he, during the birthday celebrations in Jalgaon, said, “I don’t want to quit the BJP. But a situation is being created.”
Khadse, who’s known to have a sizeable following in Jalgaon, was the leader of Opposition when Ashok Chavan was the chief minister. Khadse had recently expressed his displeasure over the BJP for not re-inducting him in the state government as the minister.
