With an intention to train quality educators for Diabetes and to inculcate evidence based knowledge among them, Association of Diabetes Educators (ADE), Mumbai organised a national conference – ADECON 2018 – in collaboration with Sunil Diabetes Care n’ Research Center Pvt Ltd (DCRC) and Diabetes Foundation of India (DCFI) on November 18 at Hotel Centre Point in Nagpur. The 6th edition of the conference was inaugurated by late Baba Amte’s son Dr Vikas Amte, Dr GK Parasher (Ex Pro Vice Chancellor, Nagpur) and Dr Girish Gandhi.
Present during the conference were practicing dieticians, resident doctors, nurses from different hospitals, nutritionists and other people interested in the field of Diabetes. During the conference, various topics like glycosylated hemoglobin, edible oils, GDM, Exercise, gut micro biota, MNT in Diabetes, newer glucose sensor devices and pumps-practical application, newer antihyperglycemic agents, hypoglycemia, busting myths of message forwards and importance of vaccination were addressed by Dr HB Chandalia (Mumbai), Dietician Naaznin Hussein (Mumbai), Dietician Niti Desai (Mumbai), Dr Benny Neglur (Mumbai), Dr Sunil Gupta, Dietician Salome Benjamin, Dietician Kavita Gupta, Dr Jay Deshmukh, Dr Pravin Kalvit (Bilaspur), Dietician Shubhda Banot (Delhi) and Dr Sachin Gathe. Along with this, two workshops on diabetic foot care and insulin were conducted by Dr Sharad Pendsey, Dr Benny Neglur, Dr Sunil Gupta and Priya Kotian.
The highlight of the program was ADECON Premier League – APL 2018 – which was a healthy debate on various controversies in the field. The debate was conducted by Dr Ajay Ambade and Dr Mohit Zamad.
