Bihar: Stones pelted at police personnel on lookout for Tablighi Jamaatis at mosque

In a shocking incident, police personnel, who went to check for Tablighi Jamaatis at a mosque in Bihar on Tuesday, were attacked by local residents, who pelted stones at the cops. The incident happened near the mosque of Gidarganj in Bihar’s Madhubani district.

As per reports, the police received a tip-off about the presence of Tablighi Jamaaatis at the mosque, which was organizing a jamaat. The police reached the mosque to detain the attendees in order to quarantine them. When the cops reached the mosque, they were attacked with stones. It is also mentioned in some media reports that even shots were fired.

According to the police, the jamaat at the mosque was being organised without permission and in violation of the 21-day lockdown imposed in the country. As per Amit Sharan, DSP, Jhanjharpur, three persons have been arrested for attacking the police.
