National BJP president Amit Shah recently gave a ‘surprise visit’ to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on Monday (May 29).

With the upcoming presidential elections, which are suppose to be held in July, the BJP chief’s visit got all the more substantiated. Though the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is yet to announce its candidate, speculations are rife about it fielding either a Dalit or a tribal as the candidate for the next President.

Shah along with Bhaiyyaji Joshi held a close-door meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for over two and a half hours. Shah even met party election coordinators and office-bearers at Ravi Bhavan here before heading to the RSS headquarters.

Though Shah didn’t address the media, Nagpur city BJP president Sudhakar Kohale said that Shah discussed about the party’s ‘booth expansion project’ with his party members. “He even asked us about our preparations regarding the same. He also inquired about Ajivan Sahyog Nidhi,” informed Kohale.

Shah’s visit raised a lot of eyebrows, as he wasn’t present during Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s birthday celebrations in the city two days back, despite being invited.
