Nagpur BJP leaders on Sunday filed a complaint at Jaripatka Police Station against Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Dr Nitin Raut for his remarks on Brahmins during a public gathering held at a ground in Indora in the city on March 8. Former MLA Dr Milind Mane, corporators Dharampal Meshram and Virendra Kukreja, North Nagpur BJP Chief Sanjay Chaudhari and around hundred other BJP members were present at the police station.
Dr Raut, while addressing the public gathering, stirred a controversy as he spoke about CAA, NRC and NPR. Raut questioned, “Will the Brahmins from overseas teach us the wisdom of procuring and furnishing our identity certificates?
Meshram, who is also the President of BJP’s Schedule Caste Wing in Nagpur, told Nation Next: “Nitin Raut is himself a minister in Maharashtra cabinet. He has taken an oath under the constitution to treat all communities equally. By making this statement, he has acted in bad faith. Such statements can trigger communal disturbance in the society. We have lodged a complaint and have requested the police to take appropriate action against Raut.”
Meshram added, “At a time when even Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has supported CAA, Nitin Raut, who’s in his cabinet, should not be making such irresponsible statements.”
