After BJP leaders in Uttarakhand released ‘Modi Aarti’ at a function in Dehradun on May 22, the women’s wing of Indian National Congress has filed a complaint with the local police against BJP leaders for hurting religious sentiments and equating PM Modi with God.
Congress MLA Indira Hridayesh said, “Such acts reflect of a dangerous culture. No one can be equated with God. BJP should focus on dealing with the national crisis rather than indulging in sycophancy.”
Speaking about ‘Modi Aarti’ Mussoorie BJP MLA Ganehs Joshi, who was present during the function said, “One of my aides received it on his WhatsApp and showed it to me. I liked it a lot and got it printed on small pamphlets to launch it formally. In the future, if I get anything similar, I will do the same again.” The Aarti was written by a BJP supporter Renuka Pant and was launched at the function, which was presided over by Uttarakhand Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
The ‘Modi Aarti’ talks about how the world is scared of PM Modi’s power and how his opponents fear to even come close to him. It also praises him as a leader with whom even Trump is awestruck. It appreciates PM Modi for building Ram Mandir, revoking Article 370 in Kashmir, providing HCQ to US and his initiative to fight terrorism and corruption in the country, and many of his other decisions.
Slamming the Rawat and Joshi for the Aarti, Congress state Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana said, “It is the height of sycophancy and ‘andh bhakti’ (blind devotion). If it was done by any party worker, we would have had no issues regarding it but it was done at an event attended by a state minister and a ruling party MLA, which indicates that they believe in fascism, which is all about worshipping a leader in place of God.”
Dhasmana also attacked Joshi for hurting ‘Hindu sentiments’ claiming that the Aarti is same as ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ with Lord Hanuman’s name replaced with PM Modi’s.
