At a time when Maharashtra is reeling under severe water shortage, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) included Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ official Mumbai residence ‘Varsha’ in its defaulter list. The name was included in the list after water bills amounting to almost Rs 7,44,981 were outstanding.
Apart from Fadnavis, names of 18 other Maharashtra ministers were also included in the list of defaulters for the same reason. It included – Sudhir Mungantiwar, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde, Ramdas Kadam and Eknath Shinde. As per the RTI query, ministers residing in the official residences owe Rs 8 crore to BMC since 2001.
