BSP leader booked for violating lockdown norms by organising dance party

Aligarh Police in Uttar Pradesh have booked a local BSP leader for violating lockdown norms by organising a dance party to celebrate his son's wedding.

Aligarh Police in Uttar Pradesh have booked a local Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader, Mohammad Zahid for violating lockdown norms by organising a dance party on May 27 to celebrate his son’s wedding. Along with Zahid, 20 others have also been booked by the police for being at the party. The case was registered after a clip of the event went viral on social media. The clip shows guests defying social distancing norms and dancing without masks.

According to police officials, BSP leader along with 20 attendees have been booked under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), section 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and section 271 (Disobedience to quarantine rule) of the IPC.
