Mankapur Police Station booked a Nagpur High Court advocate Rajesh Pande for allegedly outraging the modesty of two women, one out of which turned out to be a city policeman’s wife. Pande clapped from his balcony as a sign of protest against the women who were walking on the road without wearing a mask despite it being made compulsory in lockdown.
Soon an altercation followed between the two women and Pande. Reportedly, the women even abused Pande before leaving. The woman called up her husband who was a cop; he came riding without wearing a helmet. However, Pande, who denied saying anything objectionable, was granted an anticipatory bail. As reported in TOI, Pande said, “While registering an offence, police should have considered the motive too. All I wanted was to discourage a fellow citizen from venturing out without wearing mask.” As TOI quoted, Zone 2 DCP Vinita S said the advocate had abused the women who had stepped out to buy vegetables. She added that an action would be taken against the women too if they were roaming without masks.
