Caterer dies after being beaten at a wedding in Nagpur, two men arrested

Two men were arrested by Lakadganj Police for causing the death of a caterer, who was beaten mercilessly, at a wedding party held at Patidar Bhawan, Quetta Colony, Nagpur.

Two men were arrested and around 15-20 people were booked by Lakadganj Police for causing the death of a caterer, who was beaten mercilessly by these people at a wedding party held at Patidar Bhawan, Quetta Colony, Nagpur, on May 3, 2018.

As per the police, the caterer Sonu alias Swapnil Ramesh Dongre (30), had gone to slice fruits for the guests at the wedding party on May 3. Post his work, he picked up a couple of fruits for himself. This, apparently, enraged the brothers – Yogesh Waghela and Rasik Waghela – who along with 15-20 people thrashed Swapnil mercilessly. Swapnil, on May 6, was admitted to Mayo hospital for treatment of the injuries. However, on May 10, Swapnil succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by the hospital.

Lakadganj Police, on basis of a complaint from Swapnil’s mother – Sunita Ramesh Dongre (50) – has registered a case against the accused who have been booked under sections 143, 147, 149 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
