Vibrant Media Group, LLC, from Chicago, filed a complaint against Bollywood actors Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Akshay Kumar and others for alleged non-performance at a concert despite taking almost three and a half crore rupees (half a million dollars) from the company.
The company has accused the actors of allegedly shirking their duties and making underhanded deals with a competitor promoter without refunding the deposits on the original deal, thus leaving the old promoter holding the bag. Apart from Khan, other artists who came under scanner are Neeraj Shridhar, Prabhu Deva, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sonakshi Sinha, etc.
The Chicago based company filed a complaint in the federal court on June 10, 2018, in the Northern District of Illinois, against the above actors as well as their agents Matrix India Entertainment Consultants Private Limited and Yashraj Films Private Limited. The company has accused the actors and agents of breach of contract, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, among other counts, seeking injunctive and declaratory relief. The company alleges that in 2013, Vibrant Media Group, LLC hired the artists to appear live and perform at the concert extravaganza celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema, which was supposed to be held on September 2013.
But, the show had to be canceled as Khan battled legal troubles after being accused of drunken driving in Mumbai. The company had also agreed to postpone the concert once in order to suit Khan’s convenience after he was convicted for the shooting of the endangered blackbuck Indian gazelles.
The company recently learned that Khan and fellow artists, instead of keeping their promise to Vibrant Media Group, LLC, or even offering to return their deposits, had agreed to perform with Hetal Patel and Lucky Day. But, all calls to Khan, his agents, and other artists, for the return of the funds so far have gone unanswered. Similar non-response was received from Hetal Patel and Lucky Day as well.
The Vibrant Media Group’s core business focus is on ‘Entertainment, Marketing & Media’ domain, who offers services to leading corporations to connect and communicate with the South Asian Community. The Vibrant Media Group has been doing the same for decades and plans to do the same in the future too.
