On August 14, hundreds of patriotic Nagpurians gathered at Sakkardara Square to recite Indian National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ together. The unique event was organized by Maturbhumi Pratisthan to celebrate Akand Bharat Sankalp Diwas. Students from many schools of the city participated in huge numbers at the event.

Present during the occasion were Kiranjeet Singh (Nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh), Dr Ravindra Bhoyar (Organiser), MLC Nago Ganor, Yoga Guru Mahi Baba, etc. At the event, army men and the widows of martyred soldiers were also felicitated. Those from the army who were felicitated included: Brigadier Madhav Khanzode, Major General Ajit Gadre, Sergeant Dinkar Kadu, Havildar Bilas Dawne and Havildar Naresh Barwe.

Before the mass recitation of Vande Mataram, some Italian nationals, who are followers of Mahi Baba, took to the stage to sing the Indian National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana.’ Thousands of people singing the National Anthem and National Song together was a moment, which was enough to give goosebumps to everybody present!
