Comedy For A Cause III – A fundraiser organised by Nagpur Round Table 83 (NRT 83) on June 21, 2017, brought well-known standup comedians Atul Khatri and Abhishek Upmanyu to perform in the orange city for the first time. NRT 83 team spearheaded by chairperson Nilay Verma played the perfect host at the third edition of ‘Comedy For A Cause,’ which aims at raising funds for the education of underprivileged children.

Laughter Riot

In an event, which lasted for almost two hours, Nagpurians had a gala time as the comedians tickled their funny bones. The show kick started as city standup comedian Jitesh Vasani took to the stage and joked about all funny things about Nagpur. After a superb opening act, Jitesh welcomed fellow comedian Abhishek Upmanyu on the stage amidst a lot of cheer from the people present. Abhishek took people on a laughter riot as he spoke about the time he was caught watching porn by his dad, his thoughts on the popular show Crime Patrol and his life as a Delhi guy in Mumbai. Abhishek’s typical Delhi accent mixed with his superb comic timing entertained one an all.

Just when Nagpurians thought the evening couldn’t get funnier, standup comedian Atul Khatri graced the stage. Khatri, who’s in his late 40’s, spoke about his experience working with people younger than him, his thoughts on the recently held Justin Bieber concert in Mumbai and marriage. Khatri won hearts with his jokes and spontaneity, which was pretty evident as he roasted a few people sitting in the first row. Ahead of the show, when Nation Next spoke to Khatri about the initiative by NRT 83, he said, “It’s a great initiate by NRT 83. I have performed at many shows for Round Table across the country. Round Table is really doing great for the education of underprivileged children in India.”
