Congress MLA Bharat Singh Kundanpur from Sangod in Rajasthan has written a letter to CM Ashok Gehlot requesting him to reopen liquor shops in the state saying that alcohol will clean coronavirus from throats of drinkers.

In a letter written to CM Gehlot on April 30, Kundanpur wrote that Rajasthan government had a target of earning Rs 12,500 crore in the year 2020-21 via the sale of liquor. However, this cannot be achieved due to lockdown.

Kundanpur further wrote that illegal liquor market has flourished due to unavailability of liquor and hence starting the sale of liquor is a better option. The Congress MLA also said that it was better than the threat of people buying spurious liquor.

Kundanpur wrote, “When coronavirus can be cleaned from hands by alcohol (used in sanitiser), then the virus can be surely cleaned from throats of drinkers as well.”
