COVID-19: With an intention to avoid the crowd at the airport, a liquor baron booked an entire aircraft to ferry four family members to New Delhi.

With an intention to avoid the crowd at the airport and in the flight in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Bhopal-based businessman booked a 180-seater A320 aircraft to ferry four family members to New Delhi, officials said on Thursday. The family members were reportedly stuck in Bhopal ever since the lockdown started.

The businessman, who is a liquor baron, booked the aircraft to send his daughter, her two children and her domestic help to the captial. The A320 plane arrived in Bhopal from Delhi on Monday with just the crew onboard and flew back with the four passengers.

An airline official told PTI: ” The A320 180-seater plane arrived here on May 25 to carry four members of a family, probably due to the coronavirus scare. It was chartered by someone and there was no medical emergency.” As per aviation experts, the cost of hiring an entire Airbus 320 is about Rs 20 lakh.
