Keeping in the mind the increasing cases of Coronavirus emerging from Nagpur’s Satranjipura area, BJP MLA Krishna Khopde has requested Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to handover the area to the military to help NMC to do door-to-door testing in an effective manner. Khopde is an MLA from East Nagpur where Satranjipura is situated.
In a letter dated April 21, Khopde has written: “People residing in Satranjipura area are scared as the area has become of hotspot for COVID-19. Out of 89 COVID-19 positive patients in Nagpur currently, 55 patients are linked to Satranjipura. Moreover, over 200 COVID-19 suspects from the area have been put under institutional quarantine.”
Khopde added, “Even though the police have already sealed the area, cases from the area continue to emerge. The residents in the area did not co-operate when NMC officials went to their homes for the COVID-19 survey. If the area is not handed over to the army, the situation may get worse and cases will continue to emerge.”
For the uninitiated, Khopde had written about the same to Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe more than a week back.
